Recruitment

Do YOU have what it takes? Do YOU have a desire to serve the members and visitors of your community in their time of need? Do YOU want to be a part of a professional, quality VOLUNTEER group of people that are dedicated to helping those in need of FIRE and RESCUE services? IF YOU answered yes to these questions, you MAY have what it takes!! Wyse Fork Fire and Rescue accepts applications for membership year round. There ARE requirements for membership. There ARE required classes for certification. It costs approximately $4,000.00 to outfit a firefighter with all of the equipment they need to perform the required duties. If we are willing to invest that kind of money in YOU, YOU will be required to invest of yourself in our department by taking the necessary classes to become certified as a firefighter by the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal. Most classes are offered through local community colleges and as a member of the fire service, the fees for these classes are waived, so you will receive free education. Wyse Fork Fire and Rescue also sponsors these classes at our Fire Station through Lenoir Community College. Business meetings are held the first Monday night of each month and the meeting begins at 7:00pm. All other Monday nights are training nights. If you are interested in joining us, come to the fire department ANY Monday night and ask a member for an application.
Not interested in fighting fire? You can still join us!! We have a need for people to fill other roles as well, such as Driver/Operators of fire apparatus (certifications for these positions are also required).
We also have a Junior Firefighter program overseen by Captains Ward and Cole and Jenna Cole. One requirement for the Junior Firefighter program is a minimum age of 12 years old.

Although the people you'll see in the video to the right are not members of our department, they relay the feelings of our members; our brothers and sisters.

We truly do have a second family in the volunteer fire and rescue service.
